| On this Fourth Sunday of Lent the Church calls upon us to “Rejoice!” The word is the first of the proper introit of the day:
Introit: Laetáre Ierúsalem: et convéntum fácite omnes qui dilígitis eam: gaudéte cum laetítia, qui in tristítia fuístis: ut exsultétis, et satiémini ab ubéribus consolatiónis vestrae. V. Laetátus sum in his quae dicta sunt mihi: in domum Dómini íbimus. Rejoice, O Jerusalem, and gather around all you who love her; rejoice in gladness after having been in sorrow; exsult and be replenished with the consolation flowing from her motherly bosom. V. I rejoiced in those things which were said to me: “Let us go to the house of the Lord!” The point is that in the middle of our Lenten penances we recall that the joy of Easter is not far off. More importantly, we rejoice that our salvation has been won for us, and will not be taken from us. While we may not feel much cause for rejoicing in the midst of our current situation, it is important to remember that nothing and no one can deprive us of that gift of salvation. It is also important that we keep ourselves close to the Lord during this time when we may be tempted to lose sight of Him since we cannot attend Mass together. I continue to fulfill all of the Mass intentions and to pray for all of you as I do so. We still await the arrival of the hardware to make it possible to livestream the Mass and other devotions. En este cuarto domingo de cuaresma la iglesia nos invita “¡Alégrense!” Esta palabra comienza el texto del introito propio del día:
Introit: Laetáre Ierúsalem: et convéntum fácite omnes qui dilígitis eam: gaudéte cum laetítia, qui in tristítia fuístis: ut exsultétis, et satiémini ab ubéribus consolatiónis vestrae. V. Laetátus sum in his quae dicta sunt mihi: in domum Dómini íbimus. Alégrense con Jerusalén, y que se feliciten por ella todos los que le aman. Y regocijense por ella cuantos le aman; exulten de gozo con ella cuantos han estado en pena. Porque tomarán la leche hasta quedar satisfechos de su seno acogedor, y podrán saborear y gustar sus pechos maternales. V. Qué alegría cuando me dijeron, “¡Vamos a la Casa del Señor!” El punto es que en medio de nuestras penitencias cuaresmales recordamos que la alegría de la Pascua no está tan distante. Más importante, alegrémonos que nuestra salvación ha sido comprada y no será removida de nosotros. Mientras quizás no sentimos mucha causa de alegrarnos en este momento, tenemos este don de la salvación y es seguramente la cosa más importante. Es importante también que mantenemos nuestra proximidad al Señor durante este momento en el que no podemos rezar juntos la Misa. Ofrezco las Misas cada día y oro por ustedes. Esperamos las cosas necesarias para “livestream” las Misas en la red. Oremos juntos por nosotros y por una terminación a esta situación. P. Ringley |
