| 1) We ask that everyone enter through the front doors only, meet an usher, and be shown to a seat. This will ensure that we will be able to seat as many people as possible in the church while maintain the proper distancing. The pews to be used are marked with blue tape. People should be seated in the pews so that they are facing the blue tape.
2) Couples and small family groups (3 people?) should be seated in the side pews. Families and couples do not need to maintain distance from each other, but only from other non-family members. Individuals should be seated in the larger center pews starting from the front and working toward the back. Larger families should be seated in the larger center pews. This will make it easier to see which pews need to be sanitized and avoid unnecessary work. 3) Communion will be distributed at the end of Mass in order to provide for an orderly exit from the building and minimize people’s passing near one another. I will be standing in the center of the sanctuary with my table, alcohol, and purificator. Two people at a time will come to the rail, one on either side of the gates. One section of pews at a time should come forward starting from the far-right section (Our Lady of Guadalupe), then the right center, left center and finally the far-left (Our Lady of Norwalk) section. 4) One volunteer on either side of me will sanitize the Communion rail after each communicant has received and left the rail. After receiving Communion, the people should exit the church through the side doors on either side of the altar. They may drop their offering in a basket placed near the doors as they come to receive Communion or as they exit. 5) All are asked to exit from the side doors at the altar end of the building after receiving Communion. This will eliminate the need for an exit strategy, keep people properly distanced at all times, and make it easier for volunteers to complete the sanitization of the church between Masses. In other words, all movement through the church should be toward the altar. 6) After the faithful have left we will sanitize the pews and door handles. The mixture in the spray bottles is 2 parts water, one part vinegar, and 5 drops of dish soap. 7) Interior doors should be left propped open. Exterior doors may be propped open weather permitting. Instructions (Part II) for ushers and sanitation engineers 1) Tools needed: 2) There are four basic jobs that need to be completed. A. Check people off the registration sheet and show them to a seat. 3) Remind people that they need to wear masks, and that there is no congregational singing. 4) Reserve the two front pews in the center sections for the elderly and handicapped. |
