Ascension Thursday is a Holy Day of Obligation. Masses will be offered on Thursday, May 26 at:
8:00 AM (Low Mass in Latin)
12:10 PM (English), and
7:00 PM (Solemn Mass in Latin with music provided by the Schola Cantorum).
The Lord ascended into Heaven under His own power as God 40 days after His Resurrection, and promised to send the Holy Spirit upon the Apostles after His ascension. That happened on the Feast of Pentecost 9 days later. By His ascension, the Lord took humanity into Heaven, which makes possible the taking of our humanity into Heaven as the result of His uniting His divinity to our humanity by means of the Incarnation.
