Saint Mary's will be blessed by a special visit to our parish of Bishop Athanasius Schneider, Auxiliary Bishop of Kazakhstan. We thank Stuart Chessman and the Society of St. Hugh of Cluny for making this visit possible. Bishop Schneider will be staying at the rectory for two nights and will have the opportunity to see St. Mary's "in action" and meet many of our parishioners. I am sure that most of you know that Bishop Schneider is in the forefront of defending the Tradition of the Catholic Church, both in terms of doctrine and liturgy. He is a model of courage, faithfulness and charity at a time when the Church needs men like him to defend the Truth of the Catholic faith. Bishop Schneider will give a talk on Thursday evening at 5:30 celebrating the occasion of the 10th anniversary of Pope Benedict's Motu Proprio Summorum Pontificum that restored the Traditional Mass as a form of the Roman Rite. Also speaking will be Father Innocent Smith, O.P., a Dominican from the church of St. Vincent Ferrer in Manhattan. The two talks will be followed by Pontifical High Mass at the high altar of St. Mary's. There will be a reception after the Mass so that people can meet Bishop Schneider. His visit here is a blessing and important for the mission of our parish. I ask you all to come and to invite friends to come as well. His visit to us and the blessings this will bring to our parish must be shared with other Catholics.
