| We have a few updates this week. First, the Fire Marshall did come to assess our occupancy loads. The upstairs church can hold 640 people while the downstairs chapel can hold 376. At the moment, we are still limited to 100 people in the building at one time. The bishop has written to the governor asking for an increase of this number, but with the social distancing procedures still in place we can only manage to hold 100. We hope an increased number would allow us to put 50 people downstairs and set up a screen and projector to livestream the Mass in those situations when more than 100 people have asked to attend a given Mass. We’ll see what happens next.
We look forward to being able to offer the Solemn High Mass again at 9:30 beginning on July 19th. We will also be permitted to use two altar boys at all of the Masses beginning on that Sunday. Unfortunately, the congregation is still not permitted to sing, and we are limited to two musicians in the choir loft. The RCIA students have begun taking their final exams this week. We wish them well! I continue to thank all of the volunteers who have generously agreed to serve as ushers and sanitizers in the church as we try to follow all the necessary protocols required to worship inside the church building. We would not be able to do it without them. We could still use more volunteers at 4:00 PM on Saturday. Please plan ahead and call the church during the week to make reservations for Saturday afternoon and Sunday. It is difficult for me to attend to phone calls on the weekend. It is no longer necessary to make reservations for the weekday Masses. Thanks, also, to all who continue to support us financially. Our next project is to remove the walls in the old COURAGE space in the school to create a larger meeting room for our various activities. The plan for re-sealing and re-striping the parking lot is waiting for estimates from the paving companies. All things considered, the situation continues to improve! |
Algunos datos de actualidad que deseo compartir con ustedes. En primer lugar, el Jefe de Bomberos vino a evaluar la capacidad de feligreses de la iglesia principal y de la capilla. La iglesia de arriba tiene capacidad para 640 personas, y la capilla tiene capacidad para 376 personas. Por el momento, todavía estamos limitados a 100 personas durante cada Misa. Nuestro obispo a solicitado al gobernador aumentar el numero de personas permitidas, pero con los procedimientos de distanciamiento social todavía en vigencia, por ahora solo podremos permitir el acceso a 100 personas. Desafortunadamente, la congregación todavía no tiene permitido para cantar, y estamos limitados a dos músicos en el coro. Los estudiantes de RICA han comenzado a tomar sus exámenes finales esta semana. ¡Les deseamos lo mejor!
